Chair Person
“There has been a huge improvement in Romania since the early days but there is still such great need in Comanesti. Many families exist in extreme poverty with little state support. Opportunities and care for people with disabilities, or mental health problems are very limited.”
(Quote from Chairperson –Sandra Dolan)

The charity is maintained by the committee together with the rest of the vital volunteer work force who raise funds by holding various events throughout the year. Funds are desperately needed to ensure the continued running of the Centres.

Volunteers also collect ‘shoe boxes’ from local schools and churches at Christmas, containing items such as gloves and hats, essential toiletries, and small gifts to brighten Romanian children’s lives. Family boxes with groceries and toiletries are also generously donated and collected by volunteers. These are all transported to Comanesti by truck and distributed to the children by the BHRG volunteers who make deliveries to schools, institutions, and directly to needy families.

When required, volunteers also carry out local projects, such as refurbishment of the Centres, supporting specific short-term needs and responding to crisis situations within individual families.
